What a year it has already been for the Vikings…….
Firstly Under 15 Western Metro and Cannons Representative Sides.
Altona had the most players selected in the Under 15 representative competition.
Secondly Under 18s
Eden Hanna-Roberts and Daniel Fautua making the Under 18 State Side. These two great young players join Eden’s brother Jasper and Joel Kukucka as recent Under 18 players currently in the SL side.
Thirdly Victoria Senior State Side
Campbell Mackinnon and Lachlan McDonald made the Senior State Side. Campbell has made a few Victoria sides recently and Lachlan was named as one of the three face offs and, as Victoria has the best face offs in Australia, it basically means he is right in the mix for the next Aussie World Championship field side. Campbell and Lachlan join Nick Burgess as recent Victoria Senior players.
Fourthly the Australian World Games Team (6v6 Format)
Well this is the big one…..only four Victoria players named in a very small squad of 12. Just one player each from Altona, Footscray, Eltham and Camberwell. Take a bow Campbell Mackinnon!!! The first Altona player to make a touring Senior Aussie Field side. For those that remember the dark times, when Altona elected to stay in SL rather than drop to Division 1, the importance of providing our highly talented young players, including Campbell, with the opportunity to play against the best competition was the deciding factor. I think of all the tough years for the team and this has made it all worthwhile. Well done to all our representatives, we are so very proud of you all.
