Ricky Miezan, a very popular player at Altona Lacrosse Club in 2023, has been drafted into the Premier Lacrosse League by the California Redwoods.
Ricky will join the Redwoods roster for the Championship Series in February, over Presidents’ Day weekend.
The competition will take place on February 14 through 19. The Championship Series will follow the 6-on-6 format, known as “Sixes,” that will be adopted for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Ricky was the top lacrosse player in his high school recruiting class but chose to play football instead. In 2022, Ricky was a captain on the Stanford Football team, and earned Pac-12 conference honors.
After his final season at Stanford, Ricky joined UVA lacrosse and in 2023 played in 16 games. At the end of the college season, Ricky and UVA captain Mitch Whalen, joined the Altona Lacrosse Club in Victoria, Australia. Both players quickly became club favourites.
Ricky at 6’3″ and over a 100 kgs with incredible speed was unstoppable. He will cause headaches for whoever matches up with him in the PLL.
Way to go Ricky!!!!!
